The queue was the schedule

Aragón had more solar in its interconnection queue than the network could take, and most of it was waiting on the same substation. We took the queue position as the fixed point and designed the array around what the connection would actually accept, rather than around what the land could hold.

What that changed

A smaller DC ratio than the land would have supported, single-axis tracking instead of a fixed tilt, and a build sequence that put the export cable in first. The array is 12% smaller than the site could carry and it connected eleven months earlier than the neighbouring project.

The site that connects is worth more than the site that is bigger. It took us three programmes to believe that.

What went wrong

The tracker foundations hit rock across nine hectares we had not surveyed, and we carried the redesign ourselves.

Have a site, a queue position or a problem with both?

Send us the constraint. We will tell you within a fortnight whether it is buildable and what it would take.
