The biodiversity plan was drafted before the planning submission rather than as a condition of it, which is the only reason it was affordable. Rewetting eighty hectares alongside the array was cheaper at design stage than retrofitting a single hedgerow would have been at year five.
Three years in
The ecology is ahead of plan. The maintenance cost is double what we budgeted. Both were surprises and only one of them is good news.
What went wrong
Maintenance is running at double the budgeted figure and we have not found a way to bring it down.
